Solar power is also an option. My grandfather (not Amish, but horse & buggy Mennonite) had no electrical power in his house, but did use an electric shaver hooked to a battery. These days cell phones are relatively common. I’ve heard of Amish with laptops, including one young fellow who played video games while his horse took him home. read more
