There is severe inter-generation bondage labour among other forms of slavery (child labour, sex workers, etc.) The 2013 US TIP Report cites figures of an estimated 20 to 65 million Indian citizens in forced labour within India as a result of debt bondage. read more

Bonded labour is different than bond agreement. Bonded labour refers to forced labour without payment of wages or begar. Begar or forced labour is prohibited by Article 23 of the Indian Constitution and is also a punishable offence. read more
