Before lightbulbs, the only thing we had for light was fire, in the form of oil-lamps, candles and gas-lights, fireplaces, etc…..which weren't very bright, produced a lot of heat, and had to be lit, snuffed. refilled, replaced etc… and we all know about “Mrs. O'Leary's cow,” regarding fire-hazards; and this was along with gas-leaks. read more
