Signalman 1st Class Douglas A. Munro was killed in action on 22 September 1942. He was a crewman on a Higgins boat, part of a Coast Guard Flotilla evacuating US Marines from Point Cruz, Guadalcanal. He was posthumously awarded the US Coast Guards only WW2 Medal of Honor. read more
