How are girls at IIT?

In our coaching institutes too, we've been among the only girls. At college, we are one of the 100 girls in a batch of 1300 (in my case). So it's logical to assume that we are used to being the 'rare breed'. The effects that this has on different people is different. Any girl in IIT soon ends up realizing that a bunch of JEE qualified people does not necessarily mean that they would be free of the bias against women. A fact is not all IITians are nerds or geeks. Most boys here think of girls in an utterly derogatory manner, considering the girls just an object for admiration. read more
