Technology/R&D are also a big part of both cities' economies. Seattle has Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing. Vancouver has MDA, Telus, PMC-Sierra. Differences Canadian vs. American Being in different countries, Vancouver and Seattle have a lot of fundamental differences in the areas of healthcare and government. read more
It's just different. Like Seattle, Vancouver has alot of great surrounding neighborhoods with character. Seattle has better freeway access, Vancouver has better mass transit. I prefer the sunsets in Seattle over the Olympic mountains, but I have to say Stanley Park is the city park I have ever seen and I've travelled all over. Hard choice. read more
Lived in both. Grew up in Vancouver but spent 2 years in Seattle, so I may be biased. Vancouver, hands down, is the better city, for many definitions of better. Some quick pros of each (that also include the cons): Seattle: Much, much better technology jobs market. At least an order of magnitude. read more
