How bad are the insects in Savannah, Georgia?

Savannah is no different than any other City - there are bugs, mosquitos, gnats, cockroaches aka “palmetto bugs”. Nothing an exterminator can't prevent. I used to live in the Midwest and there we had June bugs and centipedes galore. Yuck! I've never seen either of those in Savannah. read more

The bugs have never been that bad when I've been there. I was there last August and I sprayed myself with Avon bug spray when I went out at night and never had a problem. read more

First time in Savannah one year in May, did a walking garden tour. The tour guide passed around a spray bottle of insect repellant before the walk started, which he claimed was a must. Might depend on time of year -- usually I now go late fall or earlier spring and haven't noticed anything either. read more
