Yes Hydrogen can be used as a fuel but there is no advantage doing so in an ICE. You will have only the disadvantages without the advantages. If you replace the ICE with a fuel cell, at least you get double the efficiency but of course you have to deal with H2 tanks and modify your ICE accordingly.
