The North of Portugal is rainier and colder, the South closer to Mediterranean weather, albeit Portugal is not per se a Mediterranean country. In the mountains it’s drier and it snows in the winter, due to altitude. Madeira has a subtropical climate closer to the one they have in the Canary Islands nearby. read more
