How crowded is Central Park?

There are three times or areas when Central Park (New York City) feels "crowded." One is during events like the NYC Marathon or the Pope's visit, and on those times I don't even try to walk in there unless I want to cheer the runners (in the former case; one doesn't really go to cheer the Pope). read more

There are also emergency vehicles (cops, ambulances) and officials (Central Park Conservancy) which use the right lane, so the roads feel even more crowded. The third is the Central Park Zoo, which is less the Park and more a zoo. Especially during Easter Break/Passover, the place is mobbed. read more

have your photo taken at Bethesda Fountain, visit the penguins at the Central Park Zoo, or join the runners huffing counterclockwise on the dirt track that surrounds the reservoir. North of the reservoir and up to 110th Street, Central Park is less crowded and feels more rugged. read more
