Overall, considering the size of Santa Ana's army, the Alamo was doomed. It was a mission, not a military encampment. It was also a stand alone building with no means of replenishing food and supplies without considerable risk. read more

Not very defensible. It was a church with a large area surrounded by a wooden stockade in the back. The defenders didn’t have enough troops to defend the stockade. And the church by itself wasn’t going to be good defensive position. The defenders couldn’t hold the Alamo against an army led by a professional. read more
