Black History Month was first proposed by black educators and the Black United Students at Kent State University in February 1969. The first celebration of Black History Month took place at Kent State one year later, from 2/1/1970 - 2/28/1970. read more
That’s an excellent question - everyone is talking about Black History Month, yet no one is explaining how it all started. Black History Month started way back in 1915 (about 50 years after the abolishment of slavery) and is continued to be celebrated every February. read more
