How did the concept of Daleks in Doctor Who come about?

From the first Dalek story, it would appear that the Daleks thought themselves the only survivors and remained confined in their underground city. There is no indication in that story that the Thals who encountered the Dalek City with The Doctor were the only ones. As they were nomadic, they could very well have been in multiple tribes. read more

In 1984, Sevans Models released a self-assembly model kit for a one-fifth scale Dalek, which Doctor Who historian David Howe has described as "the most accurate model of a Dalek ever to be released".. Comet Miniatures released two Dalek self-assembly model kits in the 1990s. read more
