Donkeys probably do not deliberately protect livestock. Many donkeys dislike and are aggressive towards dogs, coyotes and foxes and provide indirect protection for domestic animals. Donkeys have exceptional hearing, a keen nose and excellent vision. read more

I was amused that when I googled on the topic, donkeys protect livestock, up popped a picture of a donkey carrying a fox by its broken neck. Donkeys bite, kick, and stomp and can hold their own with most canine predators. read more
