Much like dolphins, manatees seem to enjoy the company of humans, often coming right up to boats and docks to "visit". They will come up to divers and swimmers, and some will present their bellies to be scratched, or lightly grab at feet to initiate play. Because of the above, it puts the manatee at risk from human abuse. read more
