Of course, just because those deodorant sprays and shaving cream cans aren’t depleting the ozone layer doesn’t mean they are actually good for the environment. They still contain hydrocarbons and/or compressed gases notorious for their contribution to global warming. read more

They used to be propelled with Freon-12, which was really bad for the ozone layer. Freon-12 was a catalyst that would turn O3 into O2. It would not be consumed in the reaction, so would keep converting millions of O3, until it was eventually broken down by radiation. read more
