The child actor can only be used in limited ways for limited amounts of time so directors often get their roles out of the way and get on with filming the rest of the movie. This especially occurs if the child is not the protagonist or they are not needed for many of the crucial scenes. read more

Some movies feature child characters put in violent situations. This can range from crude language to extreme horror (e.g. torture, gore, etc.).
