How do we have floods if the world is round?

I don't know why the earth being round is relevant. Water flows downhill. If you dump water in one place faster than it can drain, the water will accumulate. If there is more water upstream than can be easily drained by a stream/creek/river channel, that channel will overflow. That is a flood. read more

But, the Moon is close, although not as close as the Earth, and the Moon has mass, although not as much as the Earth. The oceans are attracted to the Moon and do move towards the Moon, but because the Earth is closer and has more mass, the oceans do not escape from the Earth. This is why we have tides. read more
