At the dam wall, he digs down until he hits an impermeable layer like clay, digs dow into that layer a bit, and then starts building the dam wall by compacting layers of clay or impermeable material with the digger. read more

Sepp 1st pond at the top of the "hll" is fed by a spring. When that pond fills up it then flows to the next pond, etc, etc. I am assuming that you dont have a spring to feed your series of ponds, in that case a pump+pipe combo could be used to close the loop. read more

I do like that Sepp Holzer lets the fish be in pond where they can eat the insects coming for a drink. His fish are less part of a "artificial Aquaponics protein machine", and more part of the sculpted environment mimicking nature. read more
