Strictly speaking,"Cajuns" are descended from French-speaking Acadians who in the aftermath of the French & Indian War were kicked out of their homeland and settled in Catholic, French-speaking Louisiana. read more

Most Cajuns I know are Catholic or Baptist. Many religions are represented to a lesser scale. There is some Santeria and Voodoo activity in New Orleans, but that is not Cajun country. Cajuns did have"tratours" (treaters) in the rural areas. They were thought of something like a Medicine Man. A few may still use them. read more
