Don’t be confused by the term rough collie and border collie -they are not related. The “lassie” collie is a decently smart dog (as are all herding dogs) - but there is no comparison to a Border Collie. Collie is merely a location - on the border (get it) of Scotland and England. read more

The Border Collie is different from ordinary Collies. The breed also originates from England, but the Border Collie was developed a little farther to the north, on the border between England and Scotland – hence the name. read more

Intelligence is in the eye of the beholder. I've had Collies before, and I think they are very smart. Every bit as smart as the Sheltie I have now. But it would be hard to completely rank them--everyone thinks their dog or breed is the smartest. read more
