How intelligent is Chewbacca when compared to a human?

Although I think that's not really the fault of Chewbacca as a character but the writers underrating non-human characters - especially ones that don't have a voice. So despite his obvious skills and abilities the text infantilises Chewbacca slightly which is kind of ridiculous when he's a war hero from the Clone Wars and working with organised criminals after that. read more
