How is Detroit these days?

For the first time in my nearly 40 years….it's on the rise! There are still many problems. Crime is still high, much of the city is totally or nearly totally vacant, and the schools are in disarray. read more

Detroit itself is safe, but like any major city there are areas to avoid. There are a lot of great restaurants and events to see (theater, sports, etc.). It's up and coming overall, and consequently housing is getting more expensive there too. read more

Detroit’s got a long way to go - you can't neglect a place for half a century and expect it to rebound overnight. But with some luck, so ingenuity from young people, and a heaping of patience, I believe Detroit can be even better than it was in its prime, which was arguably the best city in America in which to live. read more
