When you receive BLOOD transfusions, you don't get much else besides red cells. We call it "blood" but it's really a "packed red blood cell transfusion." The packed cells are mixed with saline and infused. read more

So getting blood doesn't grant you immunity, but it does AFFECT immunity, in another way: it screws it up. Receiving the blood of another person, with unfamiliar antigens on the cells, messes with your immune system (I defer to an immunologist on why). read more
