There are multiple reasons why Lake Tahoe’s water is so clear: The ground surrounding it is mostly granite translating to very little natural sediment ending up in the water. As Pat stated the water is cold, meaning that things like Algae don’t enjoy it. The warmer the water the better it is for micro-organisms. read more
