Shale gas is exactly the same gas as natural gas. It is in fact natural gas and to be precise the term shale gas is a short cut. The proper term would be "natural gas found in shale rock formations". The gas produced by shale rock is no different from the gas found in conventional hydrocarbon traps. read more
