My experience in a semi-tropical climate (northern CA) says compost takes way too long, without making it a fairly high priority with specialized equipment and so on. I didn't do all that so I can give only the lazy gardener’s answer. Summer is too hot and winter is too wet; so finding the best spot for a compost pile is the first problem. read more
