The first Vitamix blender was created in 1937, which was quite novel for the time. It has developed over the years to what is now a powerful blender/processor with many uses. I don’t know why it seems to be more popular now, unless they are promoting it more. Healthy eating is becoming more popular, so that could be part of it. read more

But I think it also has to do with how unique the Vitamix (and Blendtec to be fair) blenders are, and how strong an investment they can represent for people who use them regularly. They have really long warranties (7 years in most cases), outstanding customer service, and can perform the function of numerous other appliances when fully utilized (die hard users even use them to replace a microwave!). read more
