Depends very much on the wine. 2003 was a poor year for most red wine in Bordeaux, marred by excessive heat and overripeness in the wines. Eleven years later a lot of them are falling apart. read more

Unless the wine you are drinking is one of those I would suggest you decant immediately before serving, or even better just pop and pour. If this is a particularly fine bottle then a maximum of one hour's decant would be my recommendation. read more
