Best Answer: I don't think Sherman ever owned slaves. However superintendent of the Louisana Military Institute before the war, he was provided with a house and servants (slaves). Many of Sherman's friends in Atlanta, New Orleans, Savana and Columbia South Carolina owned slaves. Sherman had a black servant during the entier war. read more
