The northern White Rhino is currently extinct in the wild. Moreover, there are currently only two white rhino females left in captivity. There are over 21.000 Southern White Rhinos in existence. Many of which are being bred in Zoos. read more
The White rhino recovered from near extinction with numbers as low as 50-100 left in the wild in the early 1900s, this sub-species of rhino has now increased to between 19,666 and 21,085, with the vast majority living in a single country, South Africa. read more
The white rhinoceros consists of two subspecies: the southern white rhinoceros, with an estimated 19,682–21,077 wild-living animals in the year 2015, and the much rarer northern white rhinoceros.
