How much knowledge of geometry do we need to start calculus?

I understand that point of view that you don't "need" geometry to get calculus, but my experience is weak geometry and algebra skills are a huge barrier to doing problems in calculus. Trying to learn calculus without these skills is like trying to read a novel in a foreign language without a large enough vocabulary. read more
