One thing is certain: everything you own will be covered with dog hair. Both breeds shed a lot. I'm not very familiar with Malamutes but German Shepherds are wonderful dogs. They're intelligent and focused. They are, by nature, protective. Training is essential. I would not suggest a German Shepherd as a first dog. read more
