We had several Alaskan Huskies (working sled dogs, weight-pull competition dogs, etc) come through classes in my 4-H training days. They were “smart” enough to figure stuff out, but most also didn’t care a lick what we wanted them to do or what we offered for rewards/threatened for corrections. read more

That's the phrase that the trainer used when I took Meika for basic obedience training. Huskies don't generally do very well in obedience training or competitions. I definitely don't think it's because they aren't smart enough. I believe that Huskies are actually so smart they don't blindly obey commands in anticipation of a Liv-a-Snap. read more
