How to remove the metal part of a light bulb?

To open a light bulb, twist out the metal solder point on the bottom of the bulb with a pair of pliers. Hold one side of the black glass insulator with your pliers, then twist it up to break the glass apart. Remove the broken bits of insulator glass and break off the interior tube with a flathead screwdriver. read more

To remove the glass insulator, take again your small precision flat head screw driver and stick it in the small opening in the center but not deeper than 1/4 inch deep and with your safety gloves and goggles, hold the light bulb so the base faces downwards or away from you and start prying around until it breaks in a few pieces that can be pried off one by one easily. read more

Okay for the bulbs in India (the ones that don't have screw at the bottom) the bottom black portion where the connectors are is made of glass. First use a knife to remove the connectors and then use something to hit on it to crack it. read more
