Pull cable from the power source to the first recessed light and leave approximately 18 inches of wire hanging from the ceiling. Repeat this for each light fixture. The excess wire gives you enough slack to wire the new fixtures. If an attic is above the ceiling, run the wire from the attic. read more

Use a wire stripper to remove about 1/2" of insulation from the ends of all the black and white wires. In addition to the incoming and outgoing wires, each box will contain one black and one white fixture wire. Connect the wires and secure them with wire nuts (Image 2). read more

These recessed cans feature push-wire connectors that make it easy to wire everything, even though most electricians prefer wire-nuts (less potential for failure). To wire this light, all you have to do is strip the wires coming into the box back 1/2″ and push the ends into the right slots. read more
