As far as my experience and memory reaches food supply in the GDR was good, as far as staple foods were concerned. I can’t remember that I ever heard of shortages of bread, potatoes or canned/processed food. Yet there were sometimes shortages of fresh or higher quality food and also of exotic food. read more
