Define "mountainous terrain". I drive a Tesla Model S, which isn't exactly an all terrain vehicle. However, I do live in Norway, and mountainous terrain is pretty much all there is. :) The car performs very well. read more
Yes, electric cars best perform on straight roads. However, mountains aren't a dead end for electric cars. Though, if we compare the both then obviously they are more efficient in cities on well constructed roads. read more
Electric cars have max torque at very low speeds, so in fact a pure electric car would be better in mountains than a gas powered car. Additionally, electric cars don't have to worry about the gas mixture and compensate for altitude. read more
