Educational opportunities were much worse for blacks during the 50s however with less unemployment black communities were safer and cleaner and more dense in the 50s than the barren, drug infested, poverty and crime ridden inner city ghettos of today, which started to happen as the tax bases of these cities (wealthier and middle class whites and eventually wealthy and middle class minorities) started leaving to the suburbs and the jobs started going overseas. read more
