How would you arrest someone with no hands?

The purpose of handcuffing someone is so that they can't easily get away (hard to run with your hands cuffed behind your back), and more importantly so they can't easily attack an officer or somehow grab a weapon to use against an officer. read more

As someone with no hands could not grab a weapon anyway, or anything else for that matter, the safety aspect of cuffing someone is already highly mitigated by the person having no hands, so cuffing them would be of little necessity for that purpose. read more

In the case of someone with no arms/hands, there really aren't any restraint options. If they're thrashing around and intent on injuring themselves or something, you're going to have to get creative with transport - that might be a forced committal involving ambulance transport. read more
