Humans did not evolve from apes. Humans and apes evolved from a common, apelike, ancestor. Our various species have evolved alongside each other, but neither evolved from the other. Adam is a fictional character. Regardless of how you view the Bible, or any religious text for that matter, it is still fiction. read more
Our ancestry includes Sahelanthropus tchadensis, Orrorrin Tugenensis, Ardipithecus, and Australopithecus. These are all non-human apes. Humans and chimpanzees shared a common ancestor from about 7 million years ago, which would have been considered a great ape at this time. read more
