"Native American" is a misnomer. Native means born somewhere. Look it up. Definition of NATIVE I am a North Carolina native, thus am an American native. Since I have some American Indian blood, I am part "Native American". Sorry, but it is a bogus designation, and the Canadian designation of "First Nations" makes far more sense. read more

You can be native to America or native to the Americas. But you can't be a Native American because "Native American" is a legal definition. Native American defines a specific group of people.
