Originally they were not siblings at all. Various drafts came along and they were cousins, lovers, no relation and other relations. Eventually we came to the twin draft. These are called fraternal twins. Given that Luke and Leia are different genders, they cannot share identical DNA; if they did, they would both be XX, girls, or XY, boys. It is not surprising, then, that they don’t look the same as each other, nor that Leia is shorter than Luke, more often than not a sister is shorter than her brother. read more
