Well if it is truly a desert island, your concern even before scurvy would be water. But, if you are able to get enough water to survive, then yes, it could become a concern. Not exactly a 'desert' island, but I once spent the entire summer alone on Ozette Island off the Pacific Coast in Washington State. It's pretty much the westernmost point of land (except a few rocks) in the lower 48 states. read more
