In an aquaponics system, what happens to worm castings?

Most worms would not survive in an aquaponics system. My experience with the 1000's of Australian strain of worms I had in my 4 x 8 "hydro-bed", I never saw any castings. These particular worms are only 2mm. in dia. and 5cm long. read more

For the most part, we composted our food scraps in a series of worm bins adjacent to the fish tanks. They weren't connected to the aquaponics system so we had to physically harvest worms from the bins for fish food. It worked well but I suspect that you're looking for something more integrated.
