In what manner do owls sleep?

I know parrots need between 10 and 12 hours of sleep. I suspect most birds that are parrot-sized and larger need about that much. One of the reasons they need that much is because they don’t sleep deeply most of the night; a burrowing owl’s REM cycle is only 11 seconds long (as opposed to a human’s which can be 20 minutes or more). read more
