Is 90s rock considered classic rock now?

From what I can tell, some music from the 90s is considered classic now, although these are often bands and performers whose careers started much earlier. The whole back catalogue of Crowded House is considered classic, even though much of it came from the 90s. read more

The only true classic rock band that fucking blew up the 90’s with incredible songs/ music is Aerosmith. Again. Too few. Too far. 90’s rock will always be considered grunge, or nu metal or alternative. Classic rock died in the 70’s and the 80’s. read more

The majority of 90s rock music was made in a different style than this "classic rock", so while it certainly is old enough to be called "classic", it's more "alternative" than anything else. read more

Keep in mind that when the "classic rock" moniker first became popular in the early '90s, it was used to describe music up through the mid-1980s. If "classic" merely refers to age, then by that measure all of the 1990s can now be considered part of the "classic" era. read more
