The advice should be: “Get to know yourself” (which is still a hell of a task) after which “being yourself” doesn’t even need to be told, it just happens. read more
Maybe rather than asking if we are being ourselves, we might simply ask if we are doing what makes us happy, if we feel in accordance with our values, or whether we are pretending in some way, in order to please somebody else (the list of such people starts with our parents, however old we are, and can be endless). read more
