Indiana is lower and very close to Chicago with a lot of Universities producing students. The previous governor was very busy handing out individual business tax breaks to keep large corporations in Illinois. read more
Chicago (and this is contrary to what I first thought) is pretty heavily segregated, just like Detroit. Chicago has deeply ingrained political corruption, just like Detroit. Chicago is experiencing an exodus of businesses and population, just like Detroit. Illinois is the 3rd biggest loser, nationally. read more
Chicago and Detroit are vastly different. While Detroit is seeing a resurgence in terms of food and entertainment, it has never and will never compare to Chicago. Chicago is quite possibly the most diverse major city in the United States. There are numerous cultures, food types, entertainment types, etc. that cannot be duplicated in any other city. read more
Chicago didn’t follow Detroit into black nationalism when Harold Washington was mayor, and it won’t follow Detroit into bankruptcy if Chuy Garcia is elected. They’re completely different cities, with different histories, different characters, different economies, and different governmental structures. read more
