Is chloroform soluble in water?

Best Answers

Chloroform is soluble in water because of H-Bonding. REASON~ At first, all the 3 Cl being electro-negative will pull the shared electron pair towards itself and have a partial positive charge on them. Therefore C will have the partial negative charge on it too. Secondly from the H atom , C will pull the electron pair. read more

Chloroform is not soluble in water. Reason: chloroform in water will not be able to make hydrogen bond. Hydrogen bond came formed only in case of F, O and N, as the difference in electronegativity between H And F, O & N is very high. Difference in electronegativity between H and Cl is not that much so NO H-BONDING. read more
